In the days of crisis, God’s divine plan has always been to raise up his consecrated ones.

Those in the room at a youth gathering on an island of East Asia cry out to God for the resurrection of this city.

The nation in East Asia where God has opened doors for the Nazarite Message a couple of years ago, isn’t the only island where this message is being officially welcomed. Just to the west lies an island where the government took control in 2019, following protests against the government. The citizens of this island were not only shut down, but some were shot. Churches that housed protesters were shut down. And yet years later, God decides to respond to the cries of his remnant by sending a team of 50 Americans to contend in prayer for God to resurrect their island, their city.

God’s plan for his glory in the nations starts with desperate prayer that leads to divine connections. Last summer our team went to this city that’s under the control of the largest communist government. However, it wasn’t until this summer that God connected us to locals who strongly desire to see God move in the city, no matter the cost. A pastor of a fellowship focused on connecting youth from both of these islands attended the ROAR conference in the first East Asian island our team visited. And after hearing the message of Joel 2:15, God stirred his heart to hold a public gathering for the Nazarite message in the city to the west of this island.

God didn’t just stir the hearts of this youth pastor, whom I call Pastor T; he had already begun to stir the hearts of 40 young people to join a 21-day Nazarite fast that our team and youth across East Asia were partaking in. Our team initially thought we would pray for 3 days on an Esther fast to see God revive this city, and that's it. And though we still went on the Esther fast, God’s plan was even better. Our team got connected to Pastor T, who had been holding nightly Zoom meetings with these 40 youth just before arriving in this city.

God gave us a divine connection to pray for an opportune moment in history. We prayed for what is most likely the first open gathering for the Nazarite Message in this city. However, it wasn’t just about having a gathering that these 40 youth could attend. It was about God starting to revive a city, but starting to revive the hearts of these young people. It was about God injecting his hope through the power of his blood into the hearts of a generation that had been shut down.

It was at this gathering that I met one of the 40 young people who were participating in the 21-day Nazarite fast. She had black hair, glasses, and was dressed in a black suit. And she sat in the second row, closest to the altar, so I decided to sit next to her to talk to her. She is a university student studying Psychology who gave up social media for the duration of this fast. I heard about those who forsook the permissible pleasures of this world for the pleasure of knowing God ( Numbers 6), as I sat next to the one whom God would call to such a radical and consecrated life. As I heard my team leader preach about how God raised John the Baptist to turn Israel back to him, I was sitting next to the young woman whom God wanted to raise to resurrect her city.

But the question running through my mind during the altar call moment was, “What’s her response to the message?” Due to how our partnership with this youth gathering was unexpected, we didn’t have our big canvas flags with the “sign the line” phrase on them. So we decided to make paper flags instead. The call was made to those who would sign a flag, and say to God, “Give me revival in my city or I die,” like when Rachel in Genesis desperately wanted children.

It is costly for my East Asian sister in Christ to sign this flag. Like her, I am also a university student. Like her, I’ve attended college in a city in desperate need of resurrection. And like her, I’ve been called to a lifestyle of wanting God above perfect grades, career success, comfort, and balance. We’ve been called to be a John the Baptist in our generation. We’ve been called to choose the wilderness over the route expected by man.

It took a moment for my sister in Christ to respond. Perhaps she was counting the cost. Then my East Asian sister in Christ signed her name on the flag.  She said yes to God reviving her city, no matter the cost. And she wasn’t the only youth who signed! The hours of trevailing prayer to see God awaken the hearts of those who would attend the gathering were worth it. The tears sowed to see revival start at this gathering resulted in reaping surrendered youth for God. The same words can be said for how God has mercifully begun to answer these cries for the youth, in every East Asian nation he has led us to so far.

WHAT’S NEXT: Last summer, after seeing God move so powerfully in the hearts of East Asian youth, I earnestly desired for God to do the same in the youth of America. Coming back this summer is no different, except that God has allowed me to respond to this God-given desire. Phase 2 of the ministry school I’m attending, called Set Apart for Awakening, will take place this fall. And it will consist of touring across American college campuses to fast and pray that God would raise 10,000 reformers. We believe that he will raise 10,000 Josiahs, amidst a nation that’s turned its back on God. These will be the ones to crush the idols through fasting and prayer, so that God would have the first place in their hearts, campuses, cities, and nation. So I’ll be taking a gap semester this fall. To find out more and see how you can support me, check out my support page.
